The Origins of Tinto de Verano
In the early twentieth century, artistas and travelers found refuge from the Andalusian sun, at an establishment in Cordoba run by Federico Vargas.
He offered a drink that was a mix of red wine and lemon soda pop which came to be known as: “Tinto de Verano” or Red Wine of the Summer. Tinto spread like wildfire through Spain becoming a household name, and the red wine cocktails became synonymous with feeling refreshed and cool in the Spanish Sun.
